Synopsis

This paper presents a comparative study on the application of metadata enrichment strategies for two distinct media archives: the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) media archive and the Baltic Film, Media, and Arts School (BFM) student film archive. While these archives serve different functions – ERR as a repository of public broadcasting content and BFM as a record of emerging film practices – both require new metadata layers to enhance accessibility, research potential, and interoperability. The purpose of the ERR’s archive is to serve the daily needs of a working media institution. In contrast, the BFM student film

Andres Kõnno, University of Tartu

Andres Kõnno has a PhD in media and communication studies from Tartu University. He is a researcher and lecturer at the Tallinn University, Baltic Film, Media and Arts school. His areas of research include the analysis of media data, film data, cultural data and semiotics.
